AbstractTwenty five phytoplankton samples containing chrysophytes were collected in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Jiangxi Provinces between April 2009 and December 2011. Fifty four taxa of silica-scaled chrysophytes were identified by means of transmission electron microscopy, eleven of them belonging to Chrysophyceae and forty three to Synurophyceae. Spiniferomonas silverensis, S. bilacunosa, Paraphysomonas homolepis, Mallomonas paxillata, M splendens, M. harrisiae, M. koreana, M. acaroides var. obtusa, M. alveolata, M. mangofera var. reticulata, M. favosa and Chrysodidymus synuroideus were reported for the first time in China. The sampled localities were situated in 25 degrees 27'-33 degrees 37'N, 117 degrees 58'-120 degrees 90'E of the eastern China that is in a subtropical region.
