The Lotus Lake in Wuhan, consisting of two Likes (the small and big), is a typical urban shallow hypereutrophic lake. After continuous monitoring for 16 months, it was hound that the aquatic environment in the small Lotus Lake was greatly improved compared with that in the big one, and also the average density, biomass, Shannon index and Margalef index of the zoobenthos in the small one were higher than those in the big one. Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) was employed to identify the relationship between zoobenthos community and ten kinds of environmental factors. It was proved that total phosphorus (TP), temperature, total nitrogen (TN), Chl.a and NH4-N were significant environmental factors influencing the zoobenthos community.
