英文摘要: The effects of chromium in high concentration (50 ppm) on water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) were analyzed. The treatment of the metal increased leaf electrolyte leakage and level of lipid peroxidation. The activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase decreased on the basis of protein content. These changes in membrane permeability, lipid peroxidation and the enzyme activities coincided with the decline in Chlorophyll-a contents. A drop in catalase activity in response to chromium treatment of water hyacinth did not result in hydrogen peroxide accumulation.
